André Ahlgren from Lund University shares his interesting work on Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging in a presentation entitled Double diffusion encoding with velocity compensation for improved probing of incoherent flow.

Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging of the brain suffers from unreliable parameter estimates due to low SNR. In the first part of the talk I will present how the robustness of IVIM can be improved by adding flow compensation to parts of the acquisition. In the second part I will talk about how these concepts can be extended to allow for analysis of motion on all timescales. In addition to variable flow compensation, variable encoding time is added as an experimental parameter to allow for a more complete characterization of the probed motion.
