[EXPIRED] Postdoc in neuroimaging analysis and modelling

A 2-year Postdoc position at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR)

As a postdoctoral researcher at the DRCMR you will focus on elucidating lifespan changes in brain, cognition and behavior and their interrelationships together with researchers in the Lifespan research area i.e. senior researchers William Baaré and Kathrine Skak Madsen and Prof. Carl-Johan Boraxbekk. You will primarily work with longitudinal (multisite) cognitive, behavioral and structural and diffusion weighted MRI data from the EU Lifebrain project (https://www.drcmr.dk/lifebrain). Study samples include longitudinal follow-ups of participants and large lifespan samples.

About the DRCMR

The DRCMR is one of the leading research centers for biomedical MRI in Europe (www.drcmr.dk). We are a vibrant interdisciplinary research center and our mission is to triangulate MR physics, basic physiology, and clinical research. Approximately 70 researchers from a diverse range of disciplines and 20 different nationalities work together to pursue basic and clinically applied MR research with a focus on structural, functional, and metabolic MRI of the human brain and its disorders. Collaboration is key at DRCMR – we do not expect any researcher to be able to do everything alone, but we expect everyone to be interested in sharing knowledge with colleagues.

The DRCMR is embedded in the Center for Functional and Diagnostic Imaging and Research, a large diagnostic imaging department including all biomedical imaging modalities at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre.

DRCMR has close interaction with clinicians and radiologists and a state-of-the-art MR-research infrastructure, which includes a pre-clinical 7T MR scanner, six whole-body MR scanners (one 7T, three 3T and two 1.5T scanners), a neuropsychology laboratory, an EEG laboratory, two laboratories for non-invasive brain stimulation, and a high performance computing cluster.

Your profile

You should be a proactive and enthusiastic researcher with:

  • A PhD degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, engineering, computer science or related fields.
  • Experience in structural and diffusion weighted neuroimaging software and analysis.
  • Expertise in statistical modeling of (longitudinal) multidimensional data using programming languages such as R and MATLAB.
  • Strong English communication skills, orally and in writing.
  • Excellent collaborative skills.

Experience with lifespan research and (cognitive) neuroscience research is an advantage.

Your tasks

  • To perform advanced statistical modeling of multimodal and multidimensional longitudinal data.
  • To perform image analyses
  • To collaborate extensively with other researchers in the center as well as international Lifebrain collaborators to advance lifespan neuroimaging research
  • To publish study findings in international, recognized scientific journals.
  • To advance the field through your own research.
  • To engage in internal education, grant writing and knowledge dissemination

Your position

You will be employed for a two-year period (with the possibility of extension) at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance where you will be part of the Brain maturation and Healthy aging groups. The position is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

Salary and Terms of Employment

Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Regions (“Danske Regioner”) and the relevant professional organization. The salary depends on background, education and seniority. Further, supplements can be negotiated. Note that candidates coming from abroad may be eligible for tax reductions. The position is open for candidates of all nationalities. We see diversity as strength and encourage everyone regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, disabilities or religion to apply.

How to apply

Applications should include a motivation letter; Curriculum Vitae summarizing education, positions, and academic work; copies of educational certificates, publications/academic work that the applicant wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee as well as  names and contact details of at least two references (name, relation to candidate, e-mail and telephone number). International applicants are advised to attach an explanation of their University’s grading system. All documents should be in English.

Applications must be submitted online through the Region H job portal, click here.

Application deadline: January 20th, 2020 at 08:00 (CET). The position is available as soon as possible. For further information regarding the position, please contact Senior researcher William Baaré. Phone: +45 60755840; Email:
