MRI in Denmark

The first Danish MR scanner was installed at the in 1984 after a generous donation from , a popular travel tycoon. MRI scanning is now available all over the country. Denmark has one of the highest rates of MRI use worldwide.

There are also strong MRI research traditions in Denmark. Beynd the DRCMR, here are some of the most active research sites (alphabetic ordering):  CFIN, DTU ComputeDTU HealthTech, FIG, HYPERMAGMRRCNRU. There is much collaboration between sites, and also a national Danish 7T facility.

Graduate level MRI education programs exist at DTU HealhTech (part of Biomedical Engineering education), at Department of Engineering, Aarhus University and at the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research.

The Danish Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine is an association of all interested in MRI, e.g. radiographers, medical doctors and physicists/engineers.
