Congratulations to our postdoc Oula Ponti, who has just been awarded an early Christmas present in the shape of almost DKK 3 million from Lundbeck Foundation for his brain research.
Oula Puonti, a researcher at DRCMR, will seek to construct a detailed model of the lateral prefrontal cortex using studies of brain tissue from the deceased. Such a model will be used, among other things, to increase the precision of interpretation of MRI brain scans in patients – thus increasing the possibility of detecting early signs of disease.
The grant is one of three grants to Danish researchers, each of whom gets up to three million spread over three years to boost brain research across Danish and American universities and hospitals – under the so-called NIH Brain Initiative, a major American brain research program founded during Barack Obama's presidency in 2013.
It can be nothing but an exciting and happy NEW YEAR.
