Lasse Christiansen will focus upon the possibility of creating high-resolution functional maps, using the 7T scanner at DRCMR to delineate how sensory information from the hand is incorporated into our motor programs. He will use non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation to change the cerebral signaling that govern the fine motor repertoire of the human hand to pinpoint causal relations between dexterity and cortical representation of the hand.
Lasse Christiansen hopes this project will bring about vital information on the neurophysiology underlying skill movements but also pave the way for new non-invasive brain stimulation-based therapies targeting decreased or aberrant sensorimotor functions.
