[EXPIRED] A postdoc in ultra-high field functional MRI

The Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre (Denmark) invites applications for a postdoc position in ultra-high field functional MRI

The aim of the position is to develop functional MRI methods (BOLD, ASL, VASO) at 7T for neuroscientific applications. The neuroscientific focus is on high-resolution fMRI of sensorimotor cortex and brain stem nuclei in neurodegenerative (Parkinson´s disease) and neuroinflammatory (Multiple Sclerosis) brain disease. Potential topics include (i) sequence optimization; (ii) image reconstruction; (iii) data analysis algorithm & pipelines, (iv) combination with electrophysiology.

About us:

The Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance (DRCMR) is one of the leading research centers for biomedical MRI in Europe (www.drcmr.dk). Our mission is to triangulate MR physics, basic physiology, and clinical research. Approximately 70 researchers from a diverse range of disciplines are currently pursuing basic and clinically applied MR research with a focus on structural, functional, and metabolic MRI of the human brain and its disorders. The DRCMR is embedded in the Center for Functional and Diagnostic Imaging and Research, a large diagnostic imaging department including all biomedical imaging modalities at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre. DRCMR has close interaction with clinicians and radiologists and a state-of-the-art MR-research infrastructure, which includes a pre-clinical 7T MR scanner, six whole-body MR scanners (one 7T, three 3T and two 1.5T scanners), a neuropsychology laboratory, an EEG laboratory, and two laboratories for non-invasive brain stimulation.

Your profile:

You should be an MR scientist with:

  • A PhD degree or corresponding qualification in engineering, physics, computer science or a related field.
  • A strong background in functional MRI data acquisition and pre-processing, and statistical analysis
  • Documented experience with image processing software (SPM, FSL, Freesurfer)
  • Proficiency regarding MR scanner software and hardware, including the reconstruction pipeline, preferably for Philips MR systems
  • Proficiency regarding post-processing of functional MRI data.
  • Strong collaborative skills.

Your tasks:

  • To support ongoing functional 7T MRI studies in patients with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson´s disease
  • To optimize data acquisition and take full advantage of the ultra-high field strength by using the latest advancements in high-resolution functional MRI.
  • To implement robust pre-processing pipelines for ultra-high field functional MRI data
  • To develop novel imaging analysis methods rooted in deep learning algorithms.
  • To engage in teaching, knowledge dissemination, and publication of results in international, recognized scientific journals.

Your position:

  • The candidate will be employed for a two-year period at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance where he / she will be part of the MS group.

Salary and Terms of Employment

Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Regions (Danske Regioner) and the relevant professional organization. The salary depends on background education and seniority. Further, supplements can be negotiated. Note that candidates coming from abroad may be eligible for tax reductions. The position is open for candidates of all nationalities.

We see diversity as strength and encourage all persons regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, disabilities or religion to apply.

Applications should include a cover letter, CV and list of publications together with the names of three references. Applications must be submitted on-line through the Region H job portal. Click here.
